I welcome the decisions by both Salford and Wigan Council's to reject planning applications to extend peat extraction at Chat Moss.
The decision is good for the local environment, the ecology of the site and the local road network and alongside the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire and the many constituents who contacted me on this issue, I call on the applicant to work with all concerned to restore the site over the coming years.
