The publication of all the responses received so far, marks the start of a brief, four week public consultation where people can let the Commission know the extent to which they disagree with, or support, the proposed re-alignment of the boundaries.
Over 40,000 people across the country have already responded and the Commission are urging more people to join the debate and let them know what they think about the comments that have already been made.
I was very proud to hand deliver over 3,500 signed petition letters to the Commission in London and to be able to demonstrate, so forcibly the strength of opposition, from the people I represent , across the Leigh area. These proposals are fundamentally unacceptable and an insult to Leigh and its residents. I would urge all Leythers to email the Boundary Commission to demonstrate the strength of feeling here.
People can send their written comments to the Commission either by using the online form or by email or by post to 35 Great Smith St, London, SW1P 3BQ.
The consultation ends midday on 3 April 2012.
After completion of the secondary consultation period, the Commission will consider whether to revise any of its initial proposals for constituencies. The Commission will conduct another consultation on any revisions that are made.
